Meet Champ
In Loving Memory
1991-2005

My name is Champ, I am a Rescue!

5/25/05

Champ and his life long brother Tuffy came into our rescue from a Humane Society in Kentucky and fully vetted.  They were an owner surrender because their owner became ill and could not care for them.  With the help of many rescue folks, we were able to get these two boys all the way to NW Indiana to safety.

PART TWO

It did not take long for Champ to settle in and make himself at home here.  I knew no one would ever want Champ because he was 14 years old and very frail, so we decided he could just hang here.  Champ and Tuffy were inseparable.  They snuggled and slept together all the time.

At the end of June, I could tell Champ was fading.  He was not eating much and spent most of his time sleeping.  I knew the end was near and made him as comfortable as I could.  He did not appear to be in any pain.

On July 3, before I retired for the night, I knew the end was near.  I said a little prayer and kissed him good night.  God called Champ to come home and the sweet boy passed away in his sleep on July 4, 2005.  Even though Champ was only here a very short time, he did wiggle his way into my heart and left his paw prints there.  He was  a little  distinguished gentleman that I will miss.

In Loving Memory of Champ

MAY I GO NOW?

Do you think the time is right?
May I say goodbye to pain filled days
and endless pain filled nights?
I didn't want to go at first I fought with all my might.
But something seems to draw me now
to a warm and loving light.
I promise that I'll not be far and hope you'll always know
that my spirit will be close where ever you may go.
Thank you so for loving me
You know I loved you too.
So hold me now just one more time and let me hear you say,
Because you care so much for me you'll let me go today."
That rainbow bridge is a special place!
