Meet Pappy

My name is Pappy, I am a Rescue!

9/17/03

Hi my name is Pappy.  Kinda cause I look like a little old man.  My story is very sad.  I was found roaming the streets one night by a very nice man in Portage, Indiana.  If he hadn’t picked me up and saved me, I am sure I would not be here.  The nice man called my foster mom and she took me to a very nice place, cleaned me up and is taking care of me.  She said I was filthy dirty, but I am all clean now!

I had fleas really bad, had to have all my shots and was checked for heartworms.  Don’t have those thank goodness.  I do have a problem with my eyes though.  I have dry eye and I need very expensive medicine twice a days in my eyes.  We don’t know yet if it will help because my eyes are badly damaged.  I can get around pretty good but my foster mom thinks I could be better at it.  I don’t have any teeth at all.  My back is hunched over too.  Mom thought it was because I had a tummy ache but it is still that way.  I had to get neutered also.

The Vet thinks I am 12+ years old.

PART TWO

Well, it did not take long for Pappy to make himself at home here.  There would never have been a home good enough for our special Pappy.  He quickly wiggled his way into our hearts.

Pappy filled our lives with unending joy and laughter for 14 months.  He spent the winter of his life in perpetual luxury.  In October of 2004, Pappy's system starting shutting down.  We tried everything in our power to keep him alive.  Unfortunately, God had called Pappy to come home.  On November 9, 2004, Pappy answered that call.

Life will never be the same without our sweet Pappy.  His paw prints are forever etched in our hearts.  He is gone but never forgotten.  We await the day we will see him again.

In Loving Memory of Pappy

MAY I GO NOW?

Do you think the time is right?
May I say goodbye to pain filled days
and endless pain filled nights?
I didn't want to go at first I fought with all my might.
But something seems to draw me now
to a warm and loving light.
I promise that I'll not be far and hope you'll always know
that my spirit will be close where ever you may go.
Thank you so for loving me
You know I loved you too.
So hold me now just one more time and let me hear you say,
Because you care so much for me you'll let me go today."
That rainbow bridge is a special place!
