Meet Faith
7/16/06
No she is not a Championship Show Dog! Faith is a sweet
little girl that is in desperate need of your help.
We received a plea for
help about a Yorkie that had been hit by a car and was on
Morphine at a vet's office in Kentucky. They said the owners
could not be found. According to the vet there,
they estimate that the cost of surgery to save this little one is somewhere
around $2700! She had been at this vet for 10 days. Our Foster Mom Suzanne
jumped in her car and headed out to get this little one.
She was a mess.
Suzanne’s vet didn’t know how she was walking. Unfortunately, her vet can not
do this kind of extensive surgery. So we need a specialist to repair her or we
can do what needs to be done to stop the pain and put her in a wheel chair.
We were referred to a specialist in Indy.
Her pelvis is broken in 3
places maybe 4. Her left leg is completely dislocated and has extensive
muscle damage. If that weren’t enough, part of her
femoral head was chipped off in the process and it is inside the socket. Her
right leg is the worse...2 of the fractures to her pelvis are on the right
side which means, first they have to stabilize the
pelvic area probably with a plate, second her
femoral bone is dislocated and hanging below the pelvic area and the femoral
ball was basically broke in half and is also free floating in the
socket/pelvic area. The good news is that she is stable at this point meaning
no damage to her bladder or colon, we have pain meds. and an anti biotic
( bladder infection) her blood work also looks pretty good.

Faith was admitted today at the specialist in Indy.
Details to follow. She has her whole life ahead of her as she is
estimated to be 1 -2 years old. Please keep little Faith in your
prayers.

Morning
Faith is on an
IV and she has urinated...didn't eat but
that's to be expected. We had
the option to have one of her legs amputated to save on cost, but we have
opted to try and save both of her legs. Her surgery should start
sometime today after 12:30
they will call when the surgery is complete. They just love her up there,
who wouldn't.

Afternoon
Surgery
is done and a success they
were able to put the toggle in the right hip the capsule was useable and they
did the FHO (femoral head osteoectomy)
surgery on the left side and repaired the ligament in her left
knee...he expects a full and complete recovery!! The
pelvis will heal itself with time. She must remain still for
10 days
with no movement after that we can take short walks
on the leash and start water therapy...the
Vet said he would elaborate more on that when it was
time. She will be having several more follow up
visits.
7/19/06 Evening
The evening call came from
the vets office and Faith was
resting comfortably. Her temp is normal and
she is sleeping a lot. All
of her vitals are great!
The earliest she will be released is tomorrow
afternoon. Keep checking back for updates. THANK YOU to all of
those who have responded so far with donations. Faith thanks you also.
7/20/06 Morning
Faith is doing great this morning! They are
planning to release her this evening. She will be confined to a crate
at first to keep her from trying to walk before healing. No casts, just
staples and stitches.
Again, they said she is such a sweetie!
7/20/06 Evening
Faith was released around 9:00 p.m. this evening.
She is safe in the comfort and quiet of her foster home. She ate, took
her meds and is resting.

Faith's medical bills are mounting quickly. Is
is estimated to cost $4000+ to fix this broken baby girl. Won't you
please consider helping. All donations either large or small are
accepted. Thank you.
