Little Faith on 8/6/06 Doing her Theraphy

8/9/06

Faith has come a long way, however, she still has a long way to go!  She has been the sweetest little girl through the whole ordeal.   When they put her in my arms at the clinic in KY,  the first thing she did was kiss my face.   She was all broken up and never once tried to snap at me or anyone else because we held her wrong or moved to fast.  I took her to my local vet the next morning where she was sedated and x-rays were taken because of the extensive damage done to her pelvis and hind legs she had to be taken to a Orthopedic Specialist in Indianapolis again she was she underwent a battery of tests.

After much contemplation it was decided that this brave little girl who had already went through so much deserved the best treatment possible.   I left her there in the care of the hospital and another IPPRA member.  The next day Faith underwent a very lengthy surgery  to both of her hind legs and her pelvis.  She had femoral head removed , pins attached, legs put back in place.

After her surgery she got the absolute BEST care in the world from her foster mom in Indy.  When she had her stitches removed we  decided  that she would return to me to continue her physical therapy.   She has progressed beautifully.  She gets water therapy 2 times a day for 20 minutes.  She also has   massage therapy and of course Lots of hugs and kisses therapy.  A couple of days ago she actually put her left foot down in the water and soon on the floor.   A couple of days after that she actually sat like a dog should only for a few seconds but we were absolutely thrilled. This is a huge accomplishment for a little dog who a month ago was found sitting along side the road wondering why a car had hit her and who would come to get her and make her feel better.

Stay tuned for many more updates on Our Little Faith.

Faith is progressing a little more everyday...we are still doing water therapy 2 x a day but we have also included short walks down the street and doing some obedience ( she’s not too sure she likes that  LOL )  She loves to lay on a rug out on the deck and sun herself and she loves to get treats!

Faith continues to improve a little more each day...she leaves her foot down just a couple of seconds longer everyday...she is now working on stairs..cant keep a good dog down LOL...She is very independent but loves to be cuddled...We are working on longer walks down the street we are up to about 50ft at this time..That may not sound like much but for FAith it is huge...

One small step for man...One GIANT leap for dog!!
